CAD design of a kicktail/stand for my GoldCoast Drop Through longboard

My Uses

  • To pop the board into my hand.
  • To maneuver the board when not riding it. When I place it down on the ground, I want to be able to change the direction it points without having to pick it up and place it back down.
  • The wood on both ends sticks out over the trucks by a little bit. This means that when I lean it against a wall, it sits on the wood and slides. By placing a flat plastic edge under it, it will be able to stand/be propped up. It also helps to protect the wood.

2 Versions

  • V1: What I installed on my skateboard.
  • V2: Has many improvements:
    • Increased spacing on the bottom, making it easier to screw the nuts in
    • Thicker top foot rest, making it easier to re-point the skateboard when it is resting on the ground
    • Slightly thinner bottom corner, making it easier to carry the skateboard like a suitcase
    • Bigger screw holes on the top, making it work with more than one specific size of screw

Print settings

  • Print on its side so the layer lines run parallel to the direction the skateboard moves (stronger against cracking when you kick it up)
  • Double wall thickness
  • I used 70% gyroid infill, but it was sort of a haphazard choice that seemed to work out great
